Also, imagine us throwing around nuclear weapons liberally if when we get into an interstellar war.
Yup, in Sword of the Stars canon Humanity's first contact with aliens was when the Hiver queen Obsidian Crown, who had recently lost a bid for control over the imperium, led a colonization fleet of her remaining supporters to try and colonize Earth by force, they bombed and strafed the shit out of the planet for an (iirc) unspecified amount of time and then, like the cockroaches we are, we were still there, gone to ground but still there, and we reactivated every dormant ICBM on the planet and threw it into orbit against the Hiver warships, wiping them out in a massive blaze of nuclear fire.

big caliber short barrel
That's a sturmtiger, iirc it uses a 50cm gun firing rocket propelled shells.

Sounds like us.
If the Mars One volunteers get killed by possible Martians defending their home we'll probably nuke the shit out of them purely because they were there first and stopping us ruining their planet/

Also worth noting that the Hivers appeared at the same time we launched our first FTL capable colony ship. So a few hundred of mankind's best and brightest died instantly and then billions more died in the ensuing bombardment.

38cm actually, though I'm not sure the barrel is rifled, but still a pretty nasty thing to stare down with even thouhg the large caliber and short barrel made it look....chibi.

This is why we shouldn't disassemble
all of our nukes.

Ironically by SotS game mechanics it would take a salvo of biblical proportions to take out an entire Hiver fleet led by a dreadnought with only planetary fusion missiles, and the humans were using primarily fission missiles.
It also means the hivers sorely neglected any sort of point defense systems, as any half decent PD grid would have removed a large chunk of the missiles.

Can we point out that if we could lure them to Russia we could just detonate all the inactive nukes there and really fuck them up.
I need to work on my tactician skills.
