oWo my Starbound Hotbar suggestion appears to be gaining some steam, of the non-Valve and non-water variety.
That said, there's almost a 0% chance of Chucklefish actually implementing it unless 1/2 the community suddenly all piles onto my thread... And even then, a pretty low chance. And even if they did implement it, it probably wouldn't be quite as I envisioned it.
Which is why I really really hope CF is going to make the whole of EVERYTHING moddable, including presumably-hard-coded stuff like the hotbar and UI. I want to give people (and myself of course) their hotbar...

*Image unrelated but pun-worthy.

I've always wanted to get into modding proper. Was going to start with Minecraft but holy hell I hate how complicated it is to even start, and the constant updating of mods for new versions and needing to work through the 3rd-party Forge and... Eugh. That said, I do have a major Minecraft mod in the planning stages, and numerous random smaller mods... None of which I will probably ever make, but hey! Starbound seems like a good place to start. Out of all scripting languages, I'm probably the most familair with LUA, and JSON stuff, while very tedious, is extremely simple... Maybe I'll even be able to do that Avali Pattern Customization mod I've wanted to make for ages... Assuming I can figure out a way to change arm, body, and head sprites in one option in the Character Creation menu darnit (arms aren't even POSSIBLE in the current versions, I think) Blech.

What am I doing it's 3 AM and I'm rambling about modding a game at a place where few people will care, if any.
Derp.

Umm... Need to post something more relevant to nothing at all...
Uh... Here, have this guy I've been working on:

Exactly.
Well, feminists are not cool with being put in the draft.

That is all.

Modding starbound is fun.

I didn't even know there was an endgame. The furthest I've ever gotten in it was facing Skeletron, and dying to him hundreds of times even with help from people I know. We all died so horribly against him.

And not any different in Starbound either. I can beat the Penguin boss well enough, but that whole robotics thing- the boss there cannot be defeated by me. I always have to get someone to help with it.

Sidescroller sandboxes got boring in a hurry when I couldn't advance, and now I'm sort of burnt out of sandbox in general. Factorio was a refreshing change at least because it focuses on a totally different aspect of the gameplay.

I'd love to help you out!

A lot of it is using shields in starbound.

Specifically, people advanced the world too fast and nobody could catch up because of it.
And I think there was the whole loot-divying issue. On a Large World that wouldn't be a problem, or if just a small number of people joined.

I would propose the following rules:
-Share everything but coins.
-Try to keep class numbers sort of even. Helps with weapon/accessory divying.
-Need consensus of a high-majority to send the world to the next stage (hardmode, post-plantera)
-Need consensus of all on the server at the time to initiate events (Moon Events, Lunar Pillars, etc.)
-Only new characters as the "primary" characters on the server. You can bring in vanity and dye stuff if you want, but asides from that, try to keep it at the start.
-Fine print: If there is an Arkhalis in the world, I get it. *Whistles innocently*

Well, lemme rephrase what I meantin my last post.

Say, you make advancements a weekly thing, like

Week one: start out, give everyone time to play and get as many things as they can before a scheduled battle with the WoF takes place.

Week 2 (&3?): let people adjust to Hardmode and be wary of summoning the mechanical bosses. Like the Wall, Plantera would be scheduled.

I'd actually love to join, but my internet prevents actual gameplay, so if I joined I'd be limited to building for whomever is on the server. Not that I'd mind, but it's up to others because I'd need item spawning rights for quicker construction.
The plan sounds good. and we'll use discord to communicate? The next part is sending friend requests to the people wo what to join, and then finding a person who wants to host.

I...wha...holy shit.
This guy managed to somehow pick up an entire space station and cram it inside a freighter. The kind of freighter made to dock with those sort of stations.
Yeah, you picked up a small Citadel. You're supposed to do that. You could also pick up medium, but that'll take your entire cargo to fit.
I have yet to get stuck in any sandbox game ever. But at the same time I've stopped playing them for the longest time because other people haven't wanted to play.

Anybody remember chromehounds?
This isn't it, this is a game so similar I don't think Bombdog would have a leg to stand on if FromSoft sued, a game called MAV.
Now MAV is in such an "early access" state that Bombdog should be legitimately ashamed to call it anything other than a tech alpha, with mediocre optimization, terrible visuals, terrible GUI, tempermental customization, a horrific lack of content depth, and overall unengaging gameplay. However if Bombdog can, in the coming months and years, shine MAV up to a modern level of polish, then the groundwork currently laid out could blossom into a very interesting title.

please tell me you weren't trying to fight his instant kill invulnerable form that instantly kills you if you enter without defeating him first and were at least fighting the actual boss via talking to the clothier at night.

Tried both. Wife filled up an entire storage box with just my tombstones. I do die a lot.

The Dungeon Guardian (the instakill one) isn't meant to be fought, but CAN be slain under proper preparation.

Skeletron himself isn't meant to be challenged unless you have higher tier armor than just the basic ores, and while it is easy to get slain, try to keep away from his head as it does the most damage to you. Ranged and magic is honestly the better option here, but I've heard from others that yoyos can decimate him pretty fast.

No shame in terraforming the planet for a fight, so if you have the option, flatten as much of the area in front of the dungeon entrance as you can.

I mean, I don't expect you to try to beat him again, but I guess I want my 1000+ hours in Terraria to count for something, so if my advice helps, then that's stellar.
Mobile banking is scary. I just moved $300 in 5 seconds.
I don't know if I'm ready for that sort of responsibility.

Beat him in copper armor using  shuriken before.  Always build skeletron boss arena on dungeon roof.

If you beat him, he actually drops a thing that summons a mini dungeon-guardian pet. I nearly did it once, it's honestly not that hard (unless they changed it).

Further chronicles of the redditfurs drama.
So it has now reached a point where 30 or so users have fucked off to make their own server, including several of the mods. So one of the mods actually got the admin to "listen" and has been feeding her our grievances, and she has ignored or redirected every argument, basically saying that none of us will be missed because we're all racist bigots and that her word is absolute law, nothing that she or any other admin has done to the detriment of the community will be rolled back, period.
I'll be honest following these logs is getting my blood boiling, just the callous disregard for your own community and COMMITMENT to being an ignorant shithead.
edit: so she simply banned the mod who raised all the complaints to her.

You're just getting started. When I was getting ready to buy my new car, I moved $1000 in seconds. And then spent it as the down payment for a contract worth $12000 + my soul.

I miss the days when all I had to worry about was if I had enough pennies in my pocket to pay the tax on a candy bar.
