Also in reality they wouldn't fire explosive munitions. Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Marxon - 09-06-2015 I'm going to hold off on the discussion for a while, due to Ehks' illness. I want to avoid causing him stress while he is ill as said stress will weaken him, and make his condition worse. We may be in the midst of a bitter argument, I still think courtesy is required. RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - DaBayleySaur - 09-06-2015 Was anyone else slightly disappointed with Starbound when it released? I was, since I was hyped up so much after watching so many videos and seeing so many posts on the home page showing the numeral updates. I was hoping to make a giant laboratory with those gloop monsters doing tests on a planet I used the terraforming thingymabobs they said we'd get a while back on to make it look like Gallifrey. And I ended up just jumping planet to planet collecting minerals and fighting bosses which take way too long to craft the things to summon them with. IDK maybe it's just me and my obsessive tendancies and playstyles. RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Surge - 09-06-2015 I was heavily disappointed with starbound at most points in it's development. Not that wild an idea for early model railguns. I suppose the thermobaric shells makes sense though. Or for filling the gap of gunpowder/chemical powder charge firearm and larger electromagnetic railgun. Imagine, a short/bullpup 5.56mm carbine with the stopping power of a .50 anti material or even a 20mm. Edit: okay, the traditional full metal(copper) jacket might not be able to handle railgun speeds but probably something harder and heavier like tungsten/DU with alloy jacket. RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Surge - 09-06-2015 .....I shouldn't wake up and find both the garage door open and the home phone on top of the mustang. A large portion of why Starbound was mostly meh for me is because, while some of it's mechanics are good, it could never hold my interest for long and I felt no drive or need to progress. And that's a huge problem. I won't compare the two, but I'll use Terraria as an example. I've played it over, and over, and over, kinda like the old character resets... Except I'd do so happily. Something about the way Terraria is paced, or how things feel fair and not very grindy at first, or the simple joy of finding chests and ore... All that needs to be said is: If I have over 1000 hours in Terraria, and I would eagerly replay it over and over, then it did something right, where Starbound hasn't (in that respect. Argue how good it is now(?) all you want, but if I don't feel the drive to play it, the new stuff doesn't matter much). Terraria opinions Starbound opinions Don't get me wrong I still like Terraria, but I am more focused on seeing where Starbound will go since it can have the potential to do a lot of things (and it is still in beta). I don't like how unfair people are to Starbound because they like Terraria more... Remember Terraria is a complete game with updates and Starbound is still in Beta with modding support and updates. I like both of them for different reasons. *These are my opinions so feel free to disagree* RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Jim_Clonk - 09-06-2015 Finished some maintenance and cleaning on my PC RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Surge - 09-06-2015 Holy Jesus that was a stressful skirmish, they started machine gunning my HQ with a superweapon the same time I sent my BMPTs on the offensive. I just play them for different reason(s) (though I don't play Starbound anymore, and it's been uninstalled for months now) I don't really see it as 'unfair' when one holds my interest after so long and the other one can't? It really is just my personal perspective, not so much a comparison of different games. |
