What are your views on the PCGMR RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Reks - 09-07-2015 (09-07-2015, 03:14 AM)AustinLB90 Wrote:(09-07-2015, 03:06 AM)Marxon Wrote: Eh... why am I here... I can barely get the videos up as it is, without random timeout errors and such. Not that I'm doing this to catch every single person watching. It's to help the creator of the patch out, with excitement, ideas, and seeing people playing it being her main inspirations to continue working. And I did manage to get the videos compressed into one. No offense, but you have an extremely skewed way of thinking about things if the mere absence of a playlist annoys you. Besides, I'd planned to put one up eventually, but seeing as I literally only had a few of these uploaded a day ago, a playlist for just 2-3 parts isn't quite enough. Anyway I'll stop blargh-ing. Enjoy, if you wanna watch. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bR0PrSJcBXuEDK2cHYizGy5uLGG8qMt RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Umbra - 09-07-2015 (09-07-2015, 04:01 AM)L3W Wrote:(09-07-2015, 02:52 AM)Umbra Wrote: Please tell me this is a real thing. You can rarely get into PC gaming without some degree of know-how. You have to be able to keep both your software and hardware intact, troubleshoot issues when (not if) they come up, you have the obscene expense of most hardware and peripherals. Sure you can get in relatively cheap if you can follow instructions and turn a screwdriver, but you'll be paying dues in upkeep before long even without trying to upgrade, parts will go bad, software will get corrupted, all kinds of things can and will go wrong. Meanwhile consoles are refreshingly constant and hassle free, my PC shows it's age with constant lag and software crashes, my Xbox shows it's age by being a bit slower than it used to be. Honestly I don't understand how people have so much trouble with their PCs all the time. I've never had to jump through hoops or anything to make games work on my PC. Peripherals aren't that expensive either. Hell, you can get entry level gaming mice under $40-50 (my second PS4 controller cost a lot more than that). Keyboards and headsets can be found dirt cheap too, you don't even need a gaming one unless you're serious. In the 4 or so years since I've bought my PC, my only upgrades have been my monitor, my case and a new GPU. Everything runs fine, I don't have to mess with anything. The extent of my maintenance is taking the side off my case and blowing some canned air around and cleaning out the filters about once a month. I'm really not doing anything special here If I had to guess I reckon it's because people constantly do shit like overclock their hardware. Case in point, a friend of mine has (rather literally) burned through about 2 whole computers worth of parts, and he built his at the same time as mine. The difference? He overclocks his CPU and GPU to absurdity (last I heard I think his CPU was running @4.5GHz - I can't even fathom how much instability that would cause or why you would need to do that) RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Jim_Clonk - 09-07-2015 (09-07-2015, 11:21 AM)Segolia Wrote:I would rather spend a bit more for a CPU/GPU that is already fast, than overclock a slower one and have it break...(09-07-2015, 10:41 AM)Surge Wrote: The longer I do PC gaming the less I agree with that "truth." Not to mention, of course; You don't even need the best hardware available to play games. RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Gonzogonz - 09-07-2015 *sticks head in and looks around* ... sup... oh, hey Reks, i watch the first video of your let's play ma-jig, i'll watch the rest when i find the time... if i had the time to watch them i'd also request/politely ask that you consider playing the base game (maybe add whatever mods/hacks/patches you feel are a complete must) as this is a game i haven't seen and it would be cool to see you play it. anyway, how are things? how are people? has anything big happened while i was "away"?
