RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Lost Rinoah - 09-24-2015 Probably file-size limits. Download and storage servers are extremely expensive to keep running. And when your item is being downloaded a million times (estimate guess for example), maintenance becomes a required and more common thing. Jacking price up as much as 90% by forcing you to increase the number of paid workers for the services. So. Either you end up requiring hundreds (possibly of thousands) in $ gifts to pay for it to stay free. Or your service is kinda limited/garbage. Even those people gotta eat. Do realize only five people getting paid only 2K a month is already 10K. And that's pretty low end these days. Most groups have 25 minimum. So that's 50K in general staff without additional costs added in. tl;DR Shits expensive as shiiiiit yo. Plus why do people even need a TL;DR now? Attention spans! Ahhg! I write the full version for a reason. RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Surge - 09-24-2015 You know I still think a repulic commando style story or game following the escapades of TSOC squad 44 could work out well. The only problem would be the shift from combat heavy wartime sabotage to more stealth oriented peacetime espionage. Also any company with a marketing department that's heard of focus groups would say "Well that's fine and all but can you make the characters more....relatable?" RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Lost Rinoah - 09-24-2015 They're clones. Their personalities are formed on a battlefield. How is that going to be relatable in any setting ever? RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Surge - 09-24-2015 (09-24-2015, 07:20 PM)Lost Rinoah Wrote: They're clones. Their personalities are formed on a battlefield. How is that going to be relatable in any setting ever?Well as much fun as an RC analogue with Tecarians would be non-human characters tend to be almost inherently less relatable. The task of making an audience care about a group of characters without any faces to show or lives to return to would depend entirely on their dialogue and body language. Restricting your character development like that for not only some, but effectively all of your characters does not bode well if you want people to care about them. Additionally although RC pulled it off with the same restrictions pushing a game like that out with neither an established IP nor developer would be much harder. RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - AustinLB90 - 09-24-2015 Do any of you people here celebrate Halloween? and do any do you decorate for it? Too broke to really buy anything for celebration, but I love the idea of the ceativity. I'm not into the whole 'scares' part of it. I prefer making things unsettling. RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - SCN-3_NULL - 09-25-2015 Now this conversation gave me an image in my head, might do an art with it for halloween assuming I'm not doing anything else for tumblr. Still doing some finishing touches with the current project though, might have it finish by tomorrow. Note it involves RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Surge - 09-25-2015 this is uncomfortably true. RE: Avali Nexus Forums 2: Back with a vengeance - Surge - 09-25-2015 MRW somebody goes off on me for giving him a "you may have a point but either way I can't be bothered to personally take the action you are recommending" response saying that I get way too angry over trivial things, then ragequits the skype chat. edit: random though; does it count as gaslighting if you complain about the behavior of an individual to a wholly unrelated and separate (group of) individual(s) |
