RE: Nexus "Serious" RP Revival Discussion - SilverOtter - 09-22-2015 (09-22-2015, 07:20 PM)Corosar Wrote: I did state that the Transformation device change (Yol not being in this time as she was destructively overpowered) it would force Coro into a single form so transformation is simply there as an explaination to why she is an avali. First tweak, as I understand it: the transformation is permanent. You are Avali. Or better explaination: it's the body the Ministry of Life gave you for this. Either way, no dragon here. Second tweak is that you need a reason to be in the mortal world. My suggestion is that you are a recon, as odd recounts from recent souls (by recent I mean 30 years) means they need someone out there who can materialize for longer than two minutes to fgure out what the mortals did this time. Third tweak: the Underworld considers physical reapers a liability. Say anything about the afterlife, and a hired demon will forcefully drag you back through faster than you can say "the Court". If a group of mortals absolutely, definitely needs to know, be prepared to untangle the red tape that makes up the Underworld legal system. You can be as much of a rookie or master reaper as you like, depending on where in the scale of experience you think would be more fun to play. First tweak works just fine as i planned for that originally. she can have her transformation device left behind in her homeworld to prevent it from arising in the future. Second tweak .... may i suggest being dragged in from her homeworld and made to take a form that fits the locals... i find that is alright. she is a physical reaper in her homeworld. perhaps conscripted from that world to work in this one due to above reason... would that not work? Third tweak is similar to my reasons as to why coro would not interfere just instead of being regulated she can't say what she really is... that works fine for me. I still feel being more of a rookie and this being more of a trial to show worth would work for this reasoning. investigation of whats going on works perfectly for me. RE: Nexus "Serious" RP Revival Discussion - SilverOtter - 09-22-2015 (09-22-2015, 09:48 PM)Corosar Wrote: First tweak works just fine as i planned for that originally. she can have her transformation device left behind in her homeworld to prevent it from arising in the future. Problem: the current version of the Underworld requires that one be dead before you becone a reaper, as the ritual specifically takes one free soul and turns it into a reaper. Unless, of course, you're the child of reaper parents again. Side note: As a reaper you are answerable to the Court. They took you out of the Circle of Life, and they have the rituals to put you straight back in. The occasional projection into the Underworld to explain what you have found, is required. When whatever problem the mortals unleashed is discovered, you did it, mission over, head back to the Underworld for debriefing, and the Court will decide if the problem effects the Underworld enough to act. So that's my nerf for Coro. You're on a job! Don't screw around. So one thing I don't quite get... Are the Underworld/Court/Reapers "magical" (you mentioned rituals) or are they explainable parts of the universe; some sort of metaphysical plane of existence where things work in bizzare ways? Coro's entire family is a long line of reapers that happened to be born into a world of their own. in fact... I have used something similar to the underworld in Coro's RP before though its named differently... i would not see an issue with the underworld and her world's version of it being connected in some way and have the ability to be summoned for a job. Coro's underworld is called the soul lands and holds connections to other underworlds in other dimensions but require authority to pass through. This is the event that would allow your idea to work perfectly with my character. Think of these gates as a reapers border crossing and needing the right visas to get through. break the terms of the visa and you get deported and punished in their homeworld and/or have to deal with the local authorities and punished by their laws. Have they found a use for that yet other than causing problems? It used to have a use. It's no longer necessary, if I recall correctly. Although nobody has tested due to the slow genetic over-write of it's benefit. (It's not saving lives anymore so people with it live shorter lives thus making people with weak or missing ones genetically dominant) It's guessed either that it used to control the consumption of toxic materials and possibly parasites within the human body so it did not effect you as horribly and just kill you outright. Actually you can study on the move. It just limits you on what you can accomplish mostly to things like meteorogical, metalworking, electronics, and a lot of zero G only expertise. (Nano-lathe and rapid creation of 3D shapes is much more rapid and easier to study and develope/recycle in zero-G meaning developement of nanolathe would be appropriate) Ryu's designed mod has food that is meant to grow rapidly in many environments including those that would outright kill the avali by lore. What of an alternate breed of the avali that is more of an offshoot. Whose body allows survival upon worlds that are murderous to the normal race? It is in fact possible for distant or stranded cells of a race to slowly develop a natural adaptation with time. Just no major adaptations beyond those beneficial to survival. Could this RP be adapted with possibly a distant offshoot race that sits aside the normal avali ? The chamileo-bloods or sommat. I can explain nearly everything from superpowers to pseudoscience in a highly technical manor. Ask me if you want any help Silver. Though I'm new so you'd obviously never trust me. May as well toss my hat in either way. I'd be glad to help. Converse or set aside with reasons why. Either way whichever is more beneficial is acceptable to me. Well what i was stating was what was part of Coro and her families traits... the second one is the method we will be using for this of course as Yol won't appear again this time around. Coro is on a requested job... and as such Yol will not interfere with it. the underworld method of moving between worlds would keep well with both Coro's lore and the lore of the RP so i am happy to go with that method if your fine with it. This would even make sense in terms of their nomadic lifestyle. Being better suited for different environments would make them less restricted on where they set up camp.
