I was expecting you to say a straight-up non-negotiable fine. Or worse. Your fine could very well be a rough guesstimate of the combined value of every illegally downloaded copy of whatever you seeded. Which is hilariously stupid, since a lot of people torrent things in the first place because they can't afford to buy the ludicrously expensive games (I am under the assumption it was a game) themselves. "So let's tell them to pay EVEN MORE money they don't have, and expect them to be able to pay fast! That'll show 'em!" And don't tell me copyright laws make sense. IMO the laws should cease to affect any product a company is no longer making money off of. That SNES game that hasn't the company hasn't made any worthwhile profit off of in 15 years? Let the people download it. Who knows, might even make people more interested in the company's games, thereby increasing sales of their current games. Or something like that. Maybe I'm just secretly an optimist. Of course, other people torrent games (still under the assumption it was a game) so that they can at least try it out before spending $70+ on a game they may not even like. Demos, especially on the PC, seem almost nonexistent as far as I can tell, and the demos there are are usually an extremely bad or too small a representation to get a good feel for the game. Lots of people torrent things to try them, and then either delete the game if they don't like it, or if they do, buy a real copy to support the devs when they have the money to do so. Then there are those who torrent things to get around abhorrent business practices like DRM and other crap like that, as a sort of "f**k you" to the assholes who think making games with those kinds of "features" is in any way acceptable. It's a way of protesting. The only kind of torrenting I personally find to be a "bad thing" for people to do is the kind where the people intend to use the torrented copy forever just because they "can", and not because of any of the above or other reasons that could be legitimately justified. And every time copyright laws get changed, it just makes the laws all the more ridiculous for the benefit of the companies and even worse for literally everyone else. Just wait until the day fanfiction, parodies, reviews, let's plays, etc. are all made illegal. I could see it happening. Not just that, but there's way too much attention being paid to the "pirate menace" than should really be. I mean, there are far more important issues that need tackling, and even with the comparatively miniscule number of people who do pirate things, companies are still making stupidly high sums of money - way more than some of them actually deserve. In conclusion, the world continues to be terrible. I hate it. Now I'm going to be depressed all day. Way to go, genius, you've made yourself even more depressed. Again. Wooo. Worst part is, the torrent was just junk data. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Flarezerker - 12-17-2015 Welp, I wear the title with pride. Just because I can. Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - kawaiiChiimera - 12-18-2015 It's most likely (99%) going to be a fake torrent troll. If they wanted to get at you they'd be very specific and not just go through your ISP. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Surge - 12-18-2015 All I know about torrenting is that CODEX is fantabulous and allows me to keep FO4 up to date. Nobody gives a shit if you pirate something really, especially not like 10 years ago. People got bigger fish to fry and it's too much effort (if not outright impossible) to go after everyone who downloads something - effort is focused into taking down providers, torrenting sites themselves etc. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Joeythomas - 12-18-2015 (12-18-2015, 12:15 AM)Davepeta Wrote: Is it jsut me or is the flareon terrifying?
