I'm generally not much of a brawler, I like Supernova, Solitaire, and Canis as my top 3 generally. Supernova is outstanding pinpoint alpha with a low profile, Solitaire is an MASC equipped 25-ton laserback, and the Canis is the best sort of response to mechs like the Mauler, more dakka.

So far I've only used the Cicada but it came with one of those second level engines so I just run around with a PPC, cannon (forgot which) and a MG. Worked pretty well since I could circle enemies at 130km/h.
(I hope we're talking about the same game, I haven't played it in forever)

It was my mistake on it's weight.  Apologies.  Last time I was on BT I think I was working mostly on a nova cat and a 95 tonner simultaniously.

I've actually had a raven with a medium autocannon and two SLR strapped in(small laser racks).  It was an assassin light build.  Rip the armor off, upgrade engine, add additional weight for bracing medium AC(IE ammo storage), bam.Took it to Solaris because fuck why not.  Cleaned up in the lower brackets.Don't need armor if nothing hits you,  But, everyone gets lucky sometimes.

Probably was honestly.  I am fond of the hauptman when loaded with 12 small ACs and a bunch of ammo, or four mediums.  Or 2 LBX40 exp.  Slaved to fire one after another.  It's beautiful.

Well my BT knowledge tends to begin with the Mechwarrior PC games and end with Sarna, and the Hauptman is the only mech on this list that I know was in Mechwarrior 4 Mercs other than the Executioner and Turkina.

the Katapult is on Sarna as a variation of the Catapult, because that's effectively what it is, Kurita didn't like how the Catapult was all indirect fire so they replaced it's missiles with PPCs and dubbed it the CAT-K2

if you want 8 cannons you'll have to settle for AC/2s and you'll probably want a DWF, which is, iirc, 22 million C-bills.

DWF can get you nearly 11 PPCs. It probably has everything you want.
