RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Surge - 12-21-2015 I simply can't wait for Battletech, it fucking pains me that I can't play it yet. Thank you for keeping this RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - SilverOtter - 12-21-2015 Today in Eve, I decided to stop being a risk-adverse solo carebear who sits around highsec doing missions. So I moved to lowsec to do missions there instead. Surprisingly, haven't died to random roams yet, even though I'm 4 (or 5) jumps away from Hek, the Minmatar/Gallente trading hub. This constellation is goddamn quiet. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Flarezerker - 12-21-2015 I swear, I'm gonna have a mental breakdown. Somebody I know insists that I just make all their problems worse, but then they keep coming back to me to complain about all sorts of nihilistic crap, when there are CLEARLY more qualified people than I to talk to. Like, what the fuck do I even do? They're suicidal, they won't go get help, and I have no fucking idea what to say to them. But if it is bothering you to that extent, you need to tell them that. Maybe suggest to them someone else that is better equipped to deal with such things. I will say it here for all to see, that professional help is rarely effective. Very few people are able to open up and actually talk to a therapist, and a fair number of therapists out there are way too eager to medicate instead of actually talking to and resolving the patient's problems. But there are legitimate guardian angels out there that people needing such guidance can turn to for help. They'll show themselves when they are needed. I'll set up the rest in the morning. You forgot that it also needs to be a blue moon on Friday the 13th, with a double rainbow happening at the same time as Hailley's comet arrives, the Sun supernovas, and North Korea finally stops being a militant country. Oh, and China needs to stop child labor, too. That being said, 7000 raw armor alone on my Vexor. Oh yes, they really are only a threat to mining barges and weaker craft. Ships actually meant to survive in lowsec and nullsec have no problems defending against one, especially a shoddy T1-meta like mine that only hits for 600 DPS or so. You're already well prepared to defend against such schenanigans, so all I would accomplish if I had a go at it would be wasting a hull and getting myself a criminal record on my clean-history pilot. Better line those stars up then. I've been here all along if people need someone to talk to. But you have to really want to improve, to turn your life around. Marxon didn't, and eventually exceeded what I could offer for guidance. There's nothing more I can do for him, not unless he was willing to take chances and make changes. Welp, since names are being used, the person I'm trying to talk to actually is Marx. Funny thing, isn't it? At times I wonder if he's for real or not... There's nothing more I can do for him, not unless he was willing to take chances and make changes. No wonder you're stressing out then. The problem with him is that what he is going through is so severe that very few people can endure it for long by themselves. He really needs a group of people to support him- but at times his episodes get so bad that such a group cannot sustain itself for long. And because the whole situation is ongoing without having really shown improvement, there is nothing anyone here can do to help him. I gave him my best, but he is beyond my reach if he isn't willing to develop some self-control and find ways to deal with his frustration and stress without taking it out on himself or the people around him. I had to block him on skype because I was too stressed out myself to continue supporting him, though I might undo that in the coming days if I can keep things together well enough. Charity starts at home isn't something he understands, and as much as I'd like to, I can't help him if he won't help himself (or if he tries to blame his issues on me). Don't beat yourself up over not being able to help him. As severe as his problems are, there is only one person capable of truely helping him. himself In my experience with him, all we can do is tell him what we know that might be of use. It is entirely up to him to act on that guidance and make something of it. |
