RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - UnamusedAvali - 01-18-2016 I brought life to a Voltz server, Australian internet ended it. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - SCN-3_NULL - 01-18-2016 RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Flarezerker - 01-18-2016 Might be a bit weird, but I'm looking forwards to seeing Zootopia. Anybody else gonna go see it? RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - SCN-3_NULL - 01-18-2016 well this thumb drive is annoying, it came preinstalled with stuff and no matter how much I format it, the stuff is still in there, on a partitioned volume. nevermind, that data drive met a hammer, I'm sick of preinstalled stuff that I really do not trust. now find another replacement drive RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - OdinYggd - 01-18-2016 I usually repartition new devices anyway just to get rid of bundleware and its associated spying tools and garbage. That and they perform better on a *nix system when formatted ext4 instead of ntfs, though doing this makes them incompatible with non-*nix equipment. I'm not sure, I usually set it to FAT/FAT32, not sure what's the major difference, as for partition, most of the option on the window's partition tool so I cant really do anything there, so that flash drive met a hammer and it's in pieces now, good thing I found one of those 512MB drives, these stuff usually cost 50RM here, now it's a relic but still an operational one. well fuck, the original files arent on my desktop! RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Reks - 01-18-2016 Commission art~ RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Flarezerker - 01-18-2016 (01-18-2016, 02:51 PM)Reks Wrote: Commission art~ That's really nice! FAT in the original implementation is really freaking old, like 20+ years now, and almost every modern device exceeds its 4GB size limit. FAT32 is the improved version that shipped with Windows 98, and still sees widespread use on removeable media for its compatibility with almost everything. It too has limits on its maximum size, microsoft's documentation puts that limit at 32GB due to Windows 2000 implementations even though it could possibly work up to 127GB. Most windows computers these days use NTFS, which Windows XP really boosted the popularity of and has been improved upon in 7 and newer. I looked it up and it has a max capacity of 2TB, but a workaround exists to trade small file efficiency for increased capacity that can push this limit up significantly. Though NTFS is slower than FAT32, the 7+ versions have the same sorts of journalling and data integrity features found in *nix ext3 and ext4. Memory sticks that will only be used with *nix systems though can just be formatted ext3 or ext4, giving a pretty good edge in performance compared to ntfs. But doing this breaks compatibility- to be properly compatible with anything, FAT32 is the winner followed by NTFS since *nix still stumbles a little when handling it. And for most people? It doesn't actually matter what it is formatted to. It just has to work, and the device you had clearly didn't. Bit of interesting reading for anyone technically inclined. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc938432.aspx RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Ehksidian - 01-18-2016 (01-18-2016, 04:44 PM)UnamusedAvali Wrote:(01-18-2016, 04:39 PM)SCN-3_NULL Wrote: sometimes I question my level of sanity, how it's still under effected after all these years. You say that... it's a picture of an australian folk monster you know, kinda like a drop bear except this one eats you and regurgitates you to turn you into it.
