I still have the mental image of Matthew holding his injured brother's hand to comfort him on the skyranger after an andromedon very nearly killed John outright. It was a memorable mission. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Umbra - 02-09-2016 Oh. This is what happens when suddenly misinformation. It sounds like you're promoting it in the wrong environment entirely, though there is at least one person here who might be able to do something with it. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Shaadaris - 02-09-2016 Every time I see a video about Guns of Icarus Online I become more interested in it. Steampunk zepplein battles. Too much awesome in one sentence. However, it's a MOBA (I think that's the right term to use here?) and I don't want to get yelled at by a bunch of elder players because I'm new and don't quite know what I'm doing. That and by nature I just plain don't like MOBAs because the gameplay is by nature too serious and overcompetetive and people have no idea how to just have fun. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Surge - 02-09-2016 horee shit that new skindeep page. PLOT TWIST!? I used to play it with friends, was a good time for the most part, but the bare minimum skeleton crew always nagged at me. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Shaadaris - 02-09-2016 >"Even thinking robots couldn't be people even if they can form opinions, think, and have emotion! They're not biological and they're just programs!" Bro, our brains are literally physical programs. >"They're made of metal and electricity. They aren't living, breathing organisms." Hey Einstein, our cells are made of carbon and that doesn't make us a pencil, so why should being made of iron make you any less? >"Yeah but they aren't sentient!" If they can think, they're sentient. Doesn't matter what they use to think - if they learn, understand, and feel, they're alive. >"Well they aren't sapient!" Oh my god you people are idiots. They can form opinions, think for themself, and are aware of themself. That is sapience. They could be sapient. >"But they can't reproduce!" That has literally nothing to do with the topic at hand. If I remove your genetalia (which I am getting very tempted to do) you don't stop being alive, though you might want to. People who honestly think like that piss me off. When we end up making a thinking, feeling AI it'll be like the whole race issue all over again. CONTEXT: Watched a video discussing Fallout 4 and specifically if Synths can be considered sentient, concious, and alive. I made the mistake of looking through the comments, which as is the standard with youtube, were mostly by mentally-degraded psychopaths and trolls... Hm... Might try it out one day when I'm bored. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - SCN-3_NULL - 02-09-2016 finally got 1.92M in armored warfare, which tier 5 MBT I should choose? Leo 1A5, M60A3, Cheiftan Mk. V or T-72? or I should just save up for the chinese tanks? Leo 1A5: not as fast as previous vehicles, still has hull armor that was thin at tier 3, good turret armor though. M60A3: sluggish but very hardy with a dependable gun. Chieftan: cannon fodder, hull and turret are very thin for an MBT, gun handling is excellent but hamstrung by sub-par (even for a tier 5 MBT) mobility and no HEAT ammo, stillbrew upgrade makes part of the frontal turret arc impenetrable. T-72: largely comparable to the M60A3, not as well protected with worse gun handling and reload but exceptional damage. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - roguephoenix64 - 02-09-2016 So, that RP thing. I decided to go ahead, provided we have enough interest and diverse characters. I've been slowly coming up with bits of story for about a year now, so it shouldn't be more than a month away. ish. Features:
Side note: classes are the usual fare, and races include Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Dragonkin, and something else I forgot about at the time of writing. Disclaimer: I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. GM, world creating, story, all new to me. Advice is deeply appreciated, and feel free to tell me if I do something horrendously wrong. Edit: Races subject to change. XM1 used to be bullshit tough but got nerfed, I have no idea where it stands now. The fact that I have not yet seen a T-80 in the wild says all I need to know about it. Leopard 2AV is bullshit tough, there is not a tier 5 that can pen any point of it's frontal arc, most lighter vehicles that can flank you can't pen your sides, or your rear with any amount of angling, and you can instantly turn to face them.
