ADVENT officer armor! a variety of new and totally symmetrical versions of existing sleeves! All of my stupidly powerful characters died in... *puts on sunglasses in order to take them off* The Calamity. Seriously, every one I've made/reworked nowadays is anything but invincible. They all have weaknesses. Most of them are bullets or bullet substitutes. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Surge - 02-21-2016 BEHOLD! THE SINGLE WORST ROUNDABOUT YOU'VE EVER SEEN. (02-21-2016, 06:39 AM)Umbra Wrote:My relationship with my "stupidly powerful characters" is a bit complicated because the case can be made easily that I've never had one save for 753(I think we'll just kinda not count ylden at all because that's a whole different debate), but at the same time I've usually only been able to compare them to characters who are OP even by the most generous of standards, and most of what makes them "stupidly powerful" is less an innate ability or trait and more of a piece of equipment. Sure people have whined and cried over the mere implication that I could potentially go nuclear option on their asses, and in my defense I never explicitly confessed to having or being willing to use a nuclear weapon, but at the end of the day I find it hard to really crack down on what makes me and my characters "OP" for the same reason some people don't really like to call Tony Stark a superhero. Sure Surge is about as close to being a walking tank as is practically possible but most of his offensive ability then depends on handhold weapons or hand-to-hand, and if you manage to separate him from his suit he's suddenly very squishy and frankly unremarkable. I will confess Leo's various augmented physical abilities make him considerably more dangerous even without the inclusion of modern weapons and armor but he tends to hamstring himself by stubbornly forgoing both, and his enhanced ability to recover from wounds or endure trauma mean little when he's caught exposed on the receiving end of an assault weapon.(02-21-2016, 02:36 AM)Surge Wrote: Good thing I don't have any OP "speshul" characters.......totally, nope, not a one.... Meanwhile, Umbra isn't much better than an ordinary person (or whatever he is at this point), Anomaly!Umbra can only phase through physical matter/objects (bullets pass through; energy bolts hurt. A lot.), and Syntax is just an engineer. Sirius may be skilled, but he's still human. And the opposite of bulletproof. Thankfully, they make armor for that. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Surge - 02-21-2016 XCOM2 upddate! So Lou got chain shot, which means he's double tapping people with a shard gun. Meanwhile Rommel is mopping the floor with alien face as expected, but now he's branched out and is using his trusty sidearm to help him curbstomp people. RE: Avali Nexus Forum Thread 3: A crowd. - Surge - 02-21-2016 So yeah somebody (I think Schulz but let's not tell her that) accidentally blew up the objective in the middle of an otherwise BEAUTIFUL ambush. I think Rommel is holding himself responsible, which is noble of him I guess, being the team leader and all.
