The Tecarian customs officer inspected the bag with obvious disinterest, Karyn was positive it wouldn't find anything incriminating as he had left nothing incriminating in it, and maintained a positive outlook on the situation right up until the android looked up and stared at him with those soulless blue eyes before saying
"Permit?"
Karyn's smile vanished as his brain floundered to process the request
"I-I'm sorry what?"
"Your permit sir, don't play stupid with me we both know who you are and why you're really here, if you don't have a permit to be here I'm gonna ask you to just take your bag here and walk back to your ship so you can leave without further incident."
Karyn frowned, with no clue how the Tecarians had learned of his contract he nonetheless had to comply with the request, and fished his permit out of his pocket, essentially a portable version of his contract stating that his employer has received permission to legally employ a bounty hunter, and that Karyn is that bounty hunter. Most governments recognized these permits and would allow hunters to operate unimpeded as long as they are discreet and/or legal, and to Karyn's knowledge the Tecarians were no different, though the customs officer quickly cursed when Karyn presented the permit and as it halfheartedly reviewed it, it then went on to say in a hushed tone.
"I was really hoping you'd just leave so neither one of us would make any more trouble for the other...listen I don't really care who hired you or who you're after, but I can almost guarantee that if Imperial Enforcement hasn't already picked him up he doesn't need to be picked up, and you aren't going to be able to do so yourself. If you try and undermine our authority around here you're going to have a very miserable stay..."
The officer looked back up and shoved the permit back into Karyn's hands, cheerfully wishing him a pleasant visit as if that whole thinly veiled threat had never happened, leaving Karyn alone to collect his bag and make his way out of the spaceport, glancing over at one of those Imperial Enforcement agents he had been told about on the way out. Like all Tecarians the agent was an android, indistinguishable from the one who had been threatening him, visibly unarmed but it carried itself with a great sense of pride and purpose as it watched over the crowds, and Karyn highly doubted that in any sort of fight against it there was any doubt who would win, armed or no. Tecar was not going to be kind to this job, but he had a reputation to uphold...
