i also can't run 1.7 on my laptop for whatever reason, gives me an unfix-able crash...unless i use Technic. that's the only way i can play 1.7.

When does it crash? Launch? Title Screen? World creation? Crash log?
If you can run technic I'd assume it's a launcher issue, so have you tried other launchers?

it's just something fucking bizarre with minecraft itself and windows/my drivers. it crashes upon trying to join a world, and the crash log is literally zero help. i even googled it, and there were no solutions other than "reinstall" which i did
that did nothing.
so i just gave up and am sticking with using technic.

But Technic is just a modpack and launcher, it doesn't alter the base code... So how is the Minecraft code itself responsible... Augh!
I'm sorry but bugs that don't make sense drive me insane. If I was in your position I wouldn't have stopped looking until I knew exactly what the problem was.
