EVE is slightly special, most of the trailers give you all kinds of visceral and exciting battles to watch, while the game never meets either of those criteria, like, imagine if the opening cutscene in Dawn of War wasn't something you could actually do in the game, because for all the visual spit and polish it has you can actually replicate that scenario more or less in the actual game.

I'm not so sure if I would want my EVE experience to be anything like the trailers.
Quite simply, I tend to get killed really fast in combat situations in most games.
Although my Catalyst carries a textbook ganker fit, all of my other ships are only lightly armored.
And my Hyperion battleship can't even hit its target more often than not. Its all about the flash in the pan and nuclear deterrent effects.

Yeah EVE has its niche and I wouldn't advocate changing it but the trailers are always jaw dropping yet removed from the actual game by a couple dozen jumps and 1.1 points of sec rating.

Of course I do keep that Hyperion in an 0.4 sec system that is regularly visited by the mining fleet I hang out with. So whenever gankers start causing trouble, I park that outside the station or in the belts for a little while as a scare tactic.
In practice I've never actually succeeded in taking a player kill, although I have fired upon reds and yellows a few times and delt damage to them.
