It's fun.I never bought homeworld remastered but I'm really disappointed that gearbox used the IP for a safe and easy "remastered" release that could be more easily accomplished by releasing the code needed for the fans to do it themselves (like OpenRCT) instead of actually trying to give us a properly updated experience in a whole new homeworld title.
I got one gripe. I like the idea of "carrier only" matches. Without the mothership, things start out slower.
But the game doesn't tell you that it doesn't just disable the mothership, it disables all capital ships. Even the Homeworld 2's shipyards that are your only chance at producing more carriers. With the Vaygr, you're fucked, because unlike the Hiigaran, Vaygr only get one production module slot on their carriers. You want to fight a combined arms attack? You'll be spending time and money swapping modules constantly. Meanwhile, the Hiigaran laugh at your puny carrier from the safety of their 3 production modules, which, because we count out capitals, means they can produce any ship they have. I like that it slows down the game (HW2 motherships can start producing capitals minutes in, due to the availability of the capital module from the start. seriously, what the fuck), but not that I can't eventually finish off my opponent by warping Battleships to the front lines.
Also HW1 races are somewhat overpowered compared to the HW2 races, since they only require research, don't use modules, and don't split up their firepower of smaller ships into even smaller clusters of ships. At least (to my knowledge), the mothership is the only way for them to make carriers.

Well, you do get the original two games anyways, and they did do some work, but that's to be expected when the RM engine is entirely new. But hey, they did integrate modding for all 3 games. (I say 3 because the Remasters and the Multiplayer all run through a single client that just selectively loads data.)
Also, what the hell happened to Homeworld Shipbreakers?
