Plus I'm lazy.
However, I think I'm satisfied with my current script. I'll be recording the first sections of dialogue today.
Want some help with writer's block? I know a writing exercise that works exceedingly well. Just, most people are afraid to try it. It turns writer's block into a muse. Literally, start writing anyways. Write down some random bland sentences. And then, extend them on. Lengthen them, make it a joke, make it rhyme, whatever. It's about fun. Soon enough. You won't even WANT to stop. I haven't had writer's block in four years thanks to this. Only utter exhaustion.
My problem wasn't actually not having anything written--I've had the episode scripted from beginning to end for weeks--it's that I wasn't satisfied with it. There are a bunch of important things in this episode I wanted to get just right, and that takes work. It's writer's block as a fear of inadequacy, thinking "I'm really not going to be able to do this justice right now, I'll try later." In the end, I just forced myself to prune it down into something workable, and tossed out one problematic element entirely (a section of dialogue in the Avali language). Now I have something I can record.
