If you really feel that way I don't think anything I'm going to say is going to convince you otherwise. Hell, real world example - coming out of highschool I failed physics. I mean, I straight up failed, not didn't do well by my standards, I literally failed. You think at that point I would have thought I could actually do well at physics? That I could actually do any better than that? No. Well, I then went on to earn a distinction (nearly a high distinction) in the introductory physics course in my degree which covered harder content in a much shorter timespan.
Sure, it's not going to win any awards, I'm not going to become some pHD theoretical physicist any time soon but I went from failing to a pretty respectable result, one that a lot of people would be quite happy with.
That's not the result of some mystical latent ability or talent - it's because I applied myself and became better through effort. It's something that anyone can do, you just have to actually go out and do it.
