I am referring to the New 3DS, though...
Like all game companies, once Nintendo has a new system out, they don't usually look back at the previous one.

Nah, it's not that hard. You should totally pick one up if you can't wait for Paper Jam to come out.
It'd give you some background knowledge, too, since they reference the previous game in the series quite a bit in DT... They might do the same in PJ.
