Nobody ever actually wants to, but it's always what happens. And not in a "we all forgot we wanted to keep pace and decided to be greedy and blaze ahead" way,
It's actually always in a "I couldn't log in for a couple days, nobody is going to simply stop playing just because I couldn't get on". It's again a problem of synchronizing peoples' play time, which has proven time and again to be either on the infuriating end of the spectrum (guys you all have demonite, server's down until player Y catches up) or (alright, not everyone is available to play now? nobody plays) or the frankly fun-killing end of the spectrum (you all progressed to hallowed stuff, share hand-me-downs so we are all on par) which is basically making those that are too slow (or don't have enough time to play) essentially skip progression.
Which is a big part of the game, so it's basically robbing them of part of the enjoyment of the game. It simply is a nature of how the game plays and how dedicated servers work, it's just not the kind of thing we can organize (and enforce) without stepping on more than one person's toes at any given moment.
Regardless of what forums I drag myself into, I still want to make it explicitly clear that the above message still completely disregards your face.
