Meanwhile, but not meanwhile...
"It has rarely been said that magic is useless, though some cases have arisen throughout history that prove the statement's validity at times. Perhaps the greatest examples are the later works of Sir Endrel Melsaffien, who is said to have lost his marbles after first inventing them, and then have gone mad shortly after for completely unrelated reasons. One of his more famous works in his insanity are Gary's Moon-Blood Boots of Greater Insufferable Noise, which are said to have contained an enchantment that would, as long as the person wearing them had Gary as a name, was of blood type B+, was wearing orange striped socks that go just above the ankles, and was standing at least 200ft above sea level on a waxing moon, cause the wearer to hear a mildly annoying buzzing noise with no discernable source for exactly 37 seconds, at which point the enchantment would burn out and never work again."
The Old and New Worlds of Eynik Magic, Thirty-Seventh Edition
Thirty-seventh edition? The last I recall seeing was the thirty-first.
Well we have been gone for a while. Maybe they had a surprisingly fast release schedule?
Mm...
