The game itself is very fun, but can be a bit bullshit at time (like surge said about shots bouncing off etc.), though I don't have problems with that most of the time (wonky netcode or something maybe?). You can hop on and off every week with no kind of penalty so you're good in that way, you'll just progress slower (I mean there's a daily reward thing too which seems worth keeping up).
The game balance has gotten terrible though and it's progressively getting worse. There's a very clear bias towards russian stuff. It's not so terrible you can't just put up with it but you will notice it if you play for a while.
Progression is alright to start out but gets slow, horrendously slow. Each nation has a 'tech tree' of sorts which you work up (one for planes and one for tanks if applicable). You start out with the most basic planes and tanks and you can select the next one on the tree to research. Each battle you will earn a number of research points which goes towards the vehicle you are researching. The number of research points needed to get even one high tier vehicle though is huge, not to mention you need to work through everything before it (vehicles are divided into 'tiers' and to research a vehicle in the next tier you need to have completed 6 vehicles in the previous tier. So to even start researching a tier V vehicle you need to have researched 6 tier IV vehicles).
Gaijin is getting more greedy lately with the F2P stuff, more focus on boosters and stuff. There is premium vehicles and stuff, but they are no more effective than the equivalent vehicles you earn through research for the most part, so it's not really P2W (no premium ammo or anything like WoT)
Especially since it covers it in the tank tutorial.
It's more like, rounds that shouldn't bounce but do anyway. I've played over 100 hours so I'm well aware of armour mechanics.
