Terraria! So though Expert Mode means even slimes are poised to kill me, I thought, "why not make the NPC houses separate, with detail?". Yes I looked through /r/terraria and felt shame because of my plain wood boxes stacked like shipping containers how did you know
I decided wood, stone, and the resulting products are fine, so I'm not making flashy floating houses of marble and glass. The Guide has his own little house with a back porch, and the Merchant now has a little shop. Both are barebones in terms of furniture, but I got the shell of the house up, with the rest to come as the ideas do.
I will need more stone for the Demolitionist's stone slab bunker, and I'm waiting until I can safely cross the Crimson to get Mahogany from the Jungle for the Dye Trader, because hey, it's his favorite wood.
And since I'm tearing down the boxes my "house" is made of, I'm thinking of using the leftover void for a grand home for myself. Maybe a bar somewhere else, stone towers flanking the village this will eventually turn out to be...
This is turning out to me taking the game slower this time (which may or may not be a result of every enemy being a worthy foe), and actually build non-functional/pretty or time-consuming things now and throughout instead of rushing to endgame.
