They're still a part of the KSP community, no matter which platform they use for discussion/chatting/etc. because their common interest is still KSP.
Plus the Nexus, I wouldn't consider a community per se. More like a group of internet people.

The reddit and forum communities are both the same larger community in the same way that the USA, Mexico, and Canada are the same continent. They are all technically connected, easily too, but are also distinctly different.
