Not really FTL, because the gameplay there is enough to sustain you. But take games where you get emotionally invested in a character, say Starbound, and then you get real far (T4-6), and get rekt because of some stupid reason, like you end up falling due to the world not generating or something. I dont know about anybody else, but I find that mentally crushing, to have all that progress stolen from you in an instant.
