A random example of my commitment to coming up with new shit for the Tecarians, SpecIT and StanIT.
As the Tecarians dislike one-off and failed prototypes that clog the registry by being assigned model IDs the earliest phases of testing and design tend to be very very drawn out, especially for infantry droids. Once a new model of infantry droid is cleared to actually leave the drawing board it is sent to either the Tecarian Engineering Corps'(TEC) Standard Infantry Testing(StanIT) division or Specialist Infantry Testing(SpecIT) division. Both divisions exist to test and clear widely different types of droids.
StandIT is responsible for testing and clearing any general purpose droid, with the Crusader and Legionnaire being prime examples. StanIT tests extensively not just in ideal or intended circumstances but in virtually every conceivable circumstance both in and out of combat, if a droid cannot meet the day-to-day manpower demands of whatever unit is attached to, if it's anatomy prevents proper operation or maintenance of certain devices, or if it is in any way significantly inconvenienced during general tasks by it's combat systems, then it does not meet their requirements and will be revised.
SpecIT deals more in unique support droids, designed to fill specific roles in combat, such as the Dragoon and Vulcan. Combat performance is the primary concern of SpecIT, all other features are largely secondary, so long as a droid has sufficient integral armament or is capable of operating the standard range of infantry weapons, and then brings a unique advantage to units of more standard infantry droids in combat, then SpecIT will generally clear it for probational production.
