I'd like to get into aircraft maintenance, jet engines and such, I love mechanical systems and it will pay better than automotive, but the private sector of that is hard to get into and tech school will be 5k. So with that in mind the Air Force is my first choice, 10 years of character building and job experience plus retirement benefits, after which I can go into the private sector hopefully. If that doesn't work out for any reason I actually have a very generous job offer waiting for me in January that will include job training as well.
...I actually think that's what my dad does. Not sure. He works at what he calls a "Shop" on base (not like the commissary or anything, he just calls it that even though he works on mechanical stuff) and often talks about working on flight lines and stuff...then again, he could also just be doing general mechanical stuff.
He does work civilian for the Air Force though.
