If you're still alive enough to be on your feet, you MUST work regardless. Missing work means a cut in your pay that you probably can't afford, and some bosses will fire people who miss work 'too often'.
Only people who are allowed to stay home from work when they are sick but still functional are medical workers and food service workers.
At least that's the way it appears to work around here. Insurance or not, if you don't work you don't get paid, and you've got bills to pay.
the bigger complaint is that is it right to charge up to 50-200USD just for a medical checkup, and that was with insurance I've heard, I'm pretty sure other non third world members here dont even pay that much for a doctor's visit to the clinic, in case of third world(here) a clinic visit dont even exceed 50RM is it's just a mild skicned(fevers
forgot to add that was in private clinics, I remembered this back in primary(elementary) school that citizens will be charged nearly minimum 1RM in governmental hospital-clinic, that was more than a decade ago, things might have changed by now
