Quite glad we aren't that far on the scale in Canada. We wouldn't stand for losing our healthcare and (already declining) benefits.

Some of the people of the internet should band together, go to some unused land, and make a new country! Proportional representation, non-broken politics, laws that make sense, a government that doesn't spy on its people, laws forcing companies to give people a decent amount of time off work and pay people can at the very least live well with, healthcare, bills for housing and services that aren't ludicrous! A country dedicated to the bettering of science, technology, and medicine - one that isn't held back by governmental selective funding, interference from corporations, etc. One where everyone is accepted so long as they in turn accept everyone else.
The amount of people in North America who want this kind of country alone could probably band together and get it done. Add in those from the entire other 90% of the planet and you've got yourself... [insert country name here]
Wishful thinking, yes. Wishful thinking is what gets me through the day.
