By the way, the commonly seen depictions of winged children- they aren't cherubim, those are called putti.
Seraphim are pretty awesome though, I use adaptations of them in a lot of my RPs. Since they are technically beings of energy itself, they usually confine themselves to physical bodies just for convenience and practicality in a story context.
Yes, according to my very flimsy and short research (AKA I just found stuff that says this and haven't checked the accuracy) in the lore they have to hide their bodies with one of their 3 pairs of wings lest they accidentally auto-incinerate any mortal or even lesser angel that looks at them.
Also yeah apparently Cherubim look like: I used to avoid any reference to modern or offshoots of modern religions in writing and RP, but the more I look into some of the more obscure and old bits the more interesting it is.
Speaking of which, I've been attempting art again:
An Archeon, which is sort of the ruling class (and actually entirely different species) than my RP-lore's brand of angel (AKA Cheon).
This was done a while back and more (loosely) inspired by the interpretations of [totally not] Angels in the podcast Welcome to Night Vale:
Another Archeon. This one I literally just finished. They come in many forms, all of which are horribly terrifying.
This one has more obviously traditional inspiration, what with the many heads and wings and all that jazz.
I forgot arms and decided not to bother. Was originally gonna have many arms too, but it already has many everything else.
I admit all 4 sets of wings were traced from random clip art from the net. I tried so many times to draw wings from scratch. Not happening.
I continue to not bother with any proper shading because that's way above my skill level.
