I've been there. And I've walked where the lines were during the battle.

Pickett's Charge..
It is a federal offense to bring metal detectors onto the national park property because treasure hunters continue to illegally remove artifacts to this day. Active archaeology is in progress locating and categorizing artifacts that remain in that battlefield, be they the bones of the soldiers that died or the bits of metal that remain of the wartime weaponry.
More than a few cannons remain on the site too, rendered unusable for safety of course but still maintained to look authentic.
