I haven't even played it that much compared to some but after getting several characters to endgame it's just... idk, there's only so much to do in it.
I didn't even know there was an endgame. The furthest I've ever gotten in it was facing Skeletron, and dying to him hundreds of times even with help from people I know. We all died so horribly against him.
And not any different in Starbound either. I can beat the Penguin boss well enough, but that whole robotics thing- the boss there cannot be defeated by me. I always have to get someone to help with it.
Sidescroller sandboxes got boring in a hurry when I couldn't advance, and now I'm sort of burnt out of sandbox in general. Factorio was a refreshing change at least because it focuses on a totally different aspect of the gameplay.
A lot of it is using shields in starbound.
