So yeah, I've been coming up with a race for a while now, and I've kind of outlined them a bit on metaphorical paper finally... Wondering if anyone has any input on them, because I'm having trouble coming up with any good specifics, and also wondering if I could use them in the RP.
I really don't know what else to add at the moment. Bleh.
The Aulzhn
Biology:
The Aulzhn are a non-genered humanoid species with coal-black to grey skin. They are very tall, often reaching 7 feet high, and incredibly thin. Vital sections of their bodies and limbs are covered by black exoskeletal plates, the same color as their skeleton, teeth, and claws. They have a set of black horns on the side of their head, wavy and often curved to the back, varying in size. Their hair is very strong and thick, ranges from black to white in color and grows very quickly. Their eyes range in color from violet to gold, and have stationary rectangular pupils, and their teeth are all pointed. Their arms are very long compared to most bipedal species, and end in a very large two-fingered (with opposable thumb) hand tipped with claws. They have a long, leathery, prehensile tail which is tipped with a barb similar to their claws. Their feet are similar in size and form to their hands, and the thumb sticks out back like on a bird's foot. They are also able to voice a wide variety of sounds and tones due to their complex vocal system.
Culture:
Aulzhn society is split mostly into large city-states of different clans, and most answer to a Glyret, a form of council made up of select members of the clan. Generally, clans will have their own laws, religion, social classes, and method of picking Glyret members. While regional dialects exist, they have a common tongue which has been described by other species as a jumble of sounds and syllables, and is notoriously difficult to learn. Art is very important to many clans, sometimes even more so than advancements in science.
Homeworld:
Aulzhn-3, the world they were named after by explorers, is a very warm planet primarily made up of large tracts of rocky, mountainous land. There are lots of volcanic marshes, swamps, deserts, and rainforests, limiting space for infastructure, so city-states tend to be far apart, and land-based transport is difficult.
Technology:
Before outside influences, the Aulzhn largely relied on geothermal steam-powered technology and were just beginning to store and use electricity. Due to the nature of the surface, much transportation was done by large zepplein-like vehicles, or in cases where it was possible, by boat. Most products were still manufactured by hand, and the spread of technology varied widely between clans. After cosmic explorers discovered the Aulzhn, soon many clans were introduced to technology far more advanced than they were used to, resulting in a bizzare form of schizo-tech, where technology hundreds of years ahead of the time was being used alongside their current discovered technologies. Some clans still refuse to accept any new technology and insist on catching up on their own, or not at all, while others have fully embraced the convieniences of the new advancements.
