The function of the v.stab being to stop the aircraft sliding horizontally while banking or turning. I'm not entirely convinced that aircraft would have sufficient "grip" as it were with those weird slopey stabilisers, and you'd need add pretty big stabilisers to the wing tips to have the same result :p
