As you can tell, each playable faction has an internal conflict to deal with, and an explaination of how it effects your character. If I don't give one to a faction, they cannot be used for PC backstory. Heads up: This includes the Kineptics, who will need to choose a faction other than their native homeworlds. Also, yes, most races have most of the other factions avaliable as a alternate backstory, not just the Orion Alliance. This means you can have a human in the Hylotl Empire or something.
The Hylotlian Empire:
No mind can match the Hylotl. There are no greater schools, no better strategies, no stricter labs, no universal knowledge above your people. You stand on the shoulders of giants, whose work have brought the common sapient out of ignorance. What other achievement is there beyond understanding, in this universe? But each answer today leads only to more questions, or a dead end that shakes the laboratories to their core. And as the other species return to questions of philosophy or other unproven areas of thought, you must decide for yourself the purpose of your solitary faith in the strict laws of science.
The Hylotlian Empire are neither easy nor hard to play. They have amazing technology with heavy drawbacks, and connections to the other factions. Most Hylotl (or other races who live in their Empire, hint hint) are incredibly knowledgeable in multiple areas, and will have to ask the least questions overall. Their conflict, however, is the most involved in the overarching conflict, and is difficult question in real life, let alone science fiction.
