Sometimes even just a couple hundred depending on life span of species(or even ten or less with flies). And things kill off the inadequately adapted in a larger number of ways than you'd think. Whether it's through death before breeding or while pregnant cancer and radiation exposure do not care. For example. Meaning over long periods of time (only about a thousand) You'd either have a little darker skin or you'd have a VERY high chance of gene mutations. Crippling or lethal ones. It's a lot harsher than you like to think I'm sorry to say. Meaning Caucasians would end up at some point consisting entirely of a bunch of cripples with constant pain and really short life spans.
You would think... Except that anyone with half a brain would be inclined to give spaceships, stations, etc. radiation protection, because while darker skin may protect you from certain radiation somewhat, it wouldn't be enough to make a big difference in space, I'm sure. And almost any habitable planet Humans would try to live on would have an atomosphere which would diffuse much of the radiation. But whatever, once again I'm being nitpicky.
At least the vacuum of space isn't racist.
