Kind of. They build dedicated carriers for smaller ships. Most of them are civilian and therefore are little more than framework and docking clamps. It's cheaper to send multiple ships with one FTL drive than build an FTL drive for each ship that might need one. The carrier business is very profitable, especially if you work along busy routes.
However, most carrier businesses only work on pre-planned routes and therefore you will need to find someone with a single-ship carrier to bring you about for a price.
Also, jump rings are really stupid. How are you supposed to know if you will ever get that FTL drive back? Do you know how expensive those are?
1. Stop dismissing ideas you don't like by calling them stupid, that's not how this works.
2. Any rental would work best within corporations, or if the drive has pre programmed destinations only.
