FACs attack because they usually hunt down frigates, while corvettes let cruisers come to them.
I really think you are trying to overthink this too much. You may think that space combat is the same as air combat but it is not. Yes, there is three axis of space in both. But the stable state of s plane is parallel to the ground and the edge of the atmosphere. Moving up and down in a plane can only happen do so long, going up bleeds speed, going down increases it. When you want to go somewhere in a plane, you fly straight. Planes are limited to maneuvers that are effective aerodynamically. In space, there is no drag, and moving is effected by orbital mechanics. Any attack can come from any angle.
Also, it's not like sea battles don't have similar. You need to defend large ships against torpedo boats.
That isn't really defending but ok.
As if you had to tell me this. Besides, you are the one who based everything on naval ships.
If you really want this kind of realism, cut out the small craft entirely.
Rip that paragraph.
You know what? Fine. No FACs or Corvettes, since you continue to argue in the name of tradition THAT DOESN'T EVEN FUCKING MATTER BECAUSE IT IS A NAME FOR A SHIP THAT CONTINUES TO WORK REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT IT HAS A FUCKING PEFECT NAME. I JUST WANTED THEM TO ALL HAVE NAVAL CLASSES, IS THAT TOO MUCH TO FUCKING ASK?
