Fucking stop.
Right. Now.
Just. go. to. sleep.
All right fine.
If you find one of your damn friends and get a place for us.. please wake me up.
*closes his eyes and falls asleep*
Ahh.. silence..

You'll know when it is working because the dias will develop white streaks from the energy flowing through it needed to confine one's soul and reprogram a brain from it."
She turns to look at where Umbra was standing, a bit confused but starting to catch on that there really was someone hidden there.
"Once a device with this capability exists, anyone who dies after that will leave behind the usual corpse- and a clear glassy crystal, which fits in the socket of the dias."
Ah. Alright. So...how do we assemble it? Or is that what Ehks is doing right now?
I can hear you.
...You're saying that like I'm insulting you right now.
"Everything you need should be in the manual. This is technology that I only barely understand myself, but that manual explains how it works, how to interface with this system, and even how to create copies of the dias if you need the capability to revive more than one person at a time. For now though we need to get one working right away."

This "crystal" thing actually sounds a lot like one of the odd things abotu the Ether crystals' home dimension... Oftentimes, when something's killed, it'll leave behind a white Ether crystal with random aspects the locals use for creating gems. It's a bit strange, actua-
*Umbra stops talking once he sees the back of his right hand, fixating on the charred marks there in the same shape as the three Ether crystals on each glove*
What the heck is happening to my hand.
Danu keeps staring at Umbra, as if trying to see him despite being invisible. She is somewhat relieved when he reveals himself, only to be surprised by the condition of his hands.
"Once a crystal is brought to you, friends of the deceased can touch the crystal to pledge their support. Each touch will make the crystal start to glow, with enough people the crystal will glow brightly and will allow the process to start. Your machinery then reads out the stored template in the crystal and generates a cloned body based on it, into which the dias implants the majority of the memories the person had at the time of death."
"Depending on how fast your machinery is, this could take anywhere from several years to only a few hours to be done, but the victim will be able to awaken with the majority of their memories and abilities intact."

Good, good. I assume the crystal would indeed keep the soul...attached here, so it would simply "move" to the new body, along with the memories. Hm. Ehks, once you're done with installing the device on the cloning pod, give me the book. I'll work on building the thing overnight, and hopefully no one will be killed while I work on it.
Alright, fine. I don't like doing this anyways, it's kinda-

Need some help?
The backs of my hands may be charred, but I can still do machinery stuff...

Yeah, no kidding... I'll have to scan myself for physical changes and energy readings later...

Uh, yeah, sure...
Might need you to help with building the machine overnight as well, Umbra. I'm a biologist, not a mechanic. Hah, an Ateros bad with machines. Funny, I guess...then again, it doesn't matter what I am...
True... Yeah, I can help. It seems like it might be an ether-based device, anyway, and that's my field of expertise.
*goes back with Ehks to help with the wiring and stuff*
I just hope I don't fall asleep on the job...
"The dias I provided once connected to a tube should result in a complete functional system- enough to keep people that die in this world where they can be recovered."
"Worry about making more of them after we get the first one operational. Once it lights up I'll have to go find that penguin creature responsible for the disturbance that led to this and use him as the test subject."
"Just do note- the crystals will gradually darken over time if supporters of the deceased are not nearby. Left alone long enough, a crystal will turn completely black and shatter, removing that person permanently from this world."

Alright. I'd rather get at least one more set up, honestly, so that we can be sure no one will be forced to...well, wait to come back. Maybe three, though two should be good for a bit.

Already hate working with electronics. Egh.

That's... That's a scary thought. Hopefully that doesn't happen to anyone here...
...Ohp! I think I found the port!

Heh. It's mostly about making sure it's plugged in properly and making sure you don't touch the shiny ends.
Now,
inventing a piece of hardware or a device of some sort...
That's the hard thing. It gets hundreds of times more technical if you're working with otherdimensional power crystals, too...
"Otherdimensional power crystals? Ether? I don't think I've heard either of those things in a context related to this system, but then my people have crossed the line where magic and technology are inseparable because there are few still alive that actually know how it works. I can do some repairs though, if you want me to help with wiring it up. Just gotta tell me which cable does what on your machine so I can match them up to the dias. I did build this one after all."

I hate the shiny ends.
*And, right about then, the dais begins to glow. It's hooked up, and functioning.*
...Looks like you did something right, at least. And I at least didn't fuck up putting the other connectors in the do-dads or whatever. It's on. Woo.

Well, I just connected it to a tube... I don't think anything's happening...
...Yeah, maybe you should come back here. Also, if you could tell me how to make one, that would be awesome. I've got a ton of scrap metal just laying around I could use.

I dunno.
Well, how far does the tube go?...

I mean, it's connected, so...maybe we can just, like, attach it to the side of the tube, maybe? Tape it to the door?

Eh, true. It's connected to the machine, just gotta...prop it somewhere or something. I still think taping it to the door would be best. It'll still work.
