Warp and taint.
Sometimes wizards get a bit greedy and power hungry, or they start to look into things best left unknown. This causes warp, a sort of twisting of the mind that can cause vivid halllucinations, moodswings, insatiable hunger, extreme sensitivity towards sunlight and worese. Rumor has it that if you embrace this... Beings of higher power might chose to... "Toy"... With you. There are three types of warm, temporary warp, "normal" warp and permanent warp.
Temporary warp only afflicts you for a few moments and can be anything from a slight headache to blurred vision or blindness. It last for a few minutes.
"Normal" warp is pretty dangerous, it can sometimes manifest as a sort of spreading disease that limits magical abilities, but it can also be way worse things. "Normal" and temporary warp can be cured with some rare and expensive items and remedies.
Permanent warp I know little of, few do, as most afflicted with it is either dead or stark raving mad.
There is also no way to remove permanent warp.
And if warp is the mental manifestation of magic gone wrong, taint is the physical.
