that's what I'm saying. in the image they compare it's size to a girl in combat armor, who is probably the intended operator, and yet it's size means it would be more at home in the hands of one of my Vulcan heavy infantry droids than of ANY human.
It's from Valkyria Chronicles 3, that PSP game in kinda WW2 like setting(fictional world) and it's s part of a special operation squad, so basically an elite soldier, specifically lance and fencer class combined

that still doesn't make any sense from a "i'm going to actually use this as a sword or even a gun while on the move" standpoint
then again japan

while on the move? mate that looks like an M2 HMG, a gun you already have to be fucking rambo to even attempt to fire while standing, but rechambered for some fuckhuge round, you won't be firing that thing period, and I doubt even rambo could swing all that weight in any fashion that would be useful in melee.
edit: okay the similarities with the M2 end at the action, but that thing is chambered to 20-30mm, which is well beyond what can safely be operated on foot, nevermind withouth any sort of stock.

Apperently this is a real thkng called pistol swords
yup. from back when pistols were only used by officers, who carried swords anyways for traditional and ceremonial reasons, and pistols were also hard enough to reload that there was a very real chance of needing a sword at some point in between each shot.

Is this seriously happening.
You're trusting me with a sword-gun.
Someone pinch me. This can't be real.
ain't nothing in this world for free.
I'll collect at a later date though.
how would most of us even pay
i can't pull money out of thin air. Well, money you can use...i don't think people would accept little slips of paper labeled "free drink" as payment.

All right. Fine by me. I have something that might be sufficient payment, anyway.

We could probably work out some kind of barter system. also i kind of hacked currency for lots of money

like I said, I'll collect at a later date, and despite my reputation for unnecessary cruelty to deadbeats I won't be looking to collect something I know can't be offered.

Huh. That's good to know. I have...plenty of things assimilated that I can use as weaponry, so I don't really need anything else. I can defend myself fine enough.

the point is to create a combo melee/ranged weapon for umbra anyways, and making a gun that is practical in a swordfight as well is going to be the real issue, I doubt I'll be able to base the gun part off anything bigger than a carbine for weight reasons.

Most likely, yeah. A gun with a blade attached doesn't mean it works as a sword, after all. Good for stabs? Possibly. good for prolonged sword fighting? Certainly not.

well a well-enough made carbine can keep the sword from weighing much more than a normal claymore, and I can probably still give the sword itself plenty of reach.

and thus a truly effective gunsword is made.
though...reloading and aiming may be an issue, I assume.

That sounds nice.
Or I could always pull some Bloodborne shit; hold a gun in one hand and a sword in the other.

that is truly an awful idea
guns akimbo isn't something that really works, a gun and sword held like that would be even less effective.

Gun and brass buckles?
Gernade launcher and scythe?
