Skype does when it decides to work. It tends to be laggy, and it will quickly get you lost in any 400+ message logs if you don't sit there and wait for it to load ALL of the messages. I've been unable to skip through 1000+ logs due to Skype throwing my scroll bar all over the place every 5 seconds.

Saying that Skype supports PMs is overselling it a bit. You're making it sound like Skype is meant for group messages and individual messages are a side feature while the opposite is true. It definitely allows you to send messages to group members privately though, provided you share contact details with them.

So here's our problem: The forums don't work for some people. Okay. But instead of

some of us can't use either.
That is the fragmentation. Neither is the ultimate solution, but it would have been easy to sit down and
find one.
It could be a modified version of the forum, good chance it might not. Why would it be so hard to sit down and work this out as a community?

Ugh not this skype squad bullshit again. Has anyone actually taken a step back to consider if this is *actually* segregating the community like you all suggest.
Within the skype group, most people are probably as active as they are here (or are more active here). People have their own shit going on and it's pretty naive to assume that just because they aren't here 24/7 that they must be in the skype group instead.
Several people (maybe ~5) in the skype group aren't even members of this community at all, only in the group because they are friends with the other people in it. A couple of people are basically never active in the skype group.
Take away these, and you're left with, what, so few others that I could count them on one hand who are actually 'preferencing' the skype community (or alternatively 'isolating' themselves from these forums as you suggest)? Honestly it's a bit hard to blame them either. A few are turned away by the thread because of taking issue with particular members here or just the constant drama like this bullshit. So, then that makes skype a way to keep in touch with people from the nexus without having to be involved in the nexus? Not a bad thing, these people probably wouldn't be around here instead if the skype group didn't exist.

The Skype stuff is not, and never has, segregated the community. It is a different avenue of communication. Only a very small number of people are highly active in skype, and not active on the forums. Maybe four. Just because they don't post doesn't mean they don't read, however.

Okay, when did I claim any of these things? What I said was - the skype group is people who are either a) already here, b) were never here or c) have left here with no real intention of returning.
