Straight away he opens with cherry picked data. Showing a HUGE spike at the "start" (1950) and then decreasing. Conflicts and war casualties do not go in a nice line, they have spikes as major conflicts occur between multiple first world nations capable of massive destruction, followed by long periods of (relative) peace, dotted with minor territorial conflicts. Major wars involving multiple first world nations invading each other are rare, often 50-100 years apart or more. And tend to be memorable as a result.
He also claims there is "no wars between countries", when right now Russia and Ukraine are at war in all but name (Russia is openly attacking Ukraine, but Ukraine can't formally declare it to BE a war, because that'll open the floodgate for full scale invasion)
It's been 70 years since the last full scale war between advanced nations (World War 2), the horrors are WW2 are starting to fade from people's memory. This doesn't mean war is out of fashion forever. Soon or later there'll be a clash between super powers, again. And Russia is the most likely candidate for instigator (There is good political, tactical, economic and strategic reasons for Russia to at some point, to try take Northern Europe. Something they have tried, and failed at, several times in human history). He cites the fact human lives are worth more alive than dead, and trade is cheaper than war; but look at Russia right now.
Putin gives exactly zero fucks about trade sanctions, he voluntarily cut off a lot of trade ties to Europe just to give them the middle finger. He isn't in this for money, he wants to be remembered by history as Russia's next Peter the Great by finishing his grand project, (And spoiler, Peter the Great didn't make the Russian empire through diplomacy)

I still think we should accept Putin as our lord and savior before our major cities are bombed by Kirovs.

tl;dr - There's 3 types of lie. Lies, damned lies, and statistics.
THIS is a more realistic overview of conflicts through history. Yes, we're at a most peaceful point in history. But we need give it a lot more time to authoratively say, war is over.
Sadly a house divided won't stand for long. And once people go to skype it quickly becomes a circlejerk that ends in drama as the group experiences a supernova of conflicting opinions and recurring nitpicking.
Damn. I was enjoying having a lively customer again.

Well, it's also summer time - a fair few people are on vacation and not able to be around as much, too, so slowdown makes sense.
with the skype stuff, it's usually dead-silent in there around this time as well, and the activity in there usually matches up...exactly when it's active in here.
Gonna be gone over the weekend... Just putting that out there so nobody goes "Where's Umbra? I need him for something" or something like that.
Gotta be prepared.
