Still bitching about the Skype Group?
Great job, you guys.
I don't even want to know.
Unfortunately, I do.
...Maybe I should make a DRAMA! emoticon.

What the effervescent, bubbly, fizzy fuck went on while I was asleep?
Surge got mad again, and what I said may have been a
touch too much agreeing with him.

I have a reaction image for that.

Got a more fitting image for that.

I agreed that the fragmentation was a problem that we shouldn't be ignoring. Apparently I did a hole in one on accident.
I don't blame the Skype fragment for everything. The SRS RP is just as guilty. But this forum is the most universal place of interaction, as far as it goes. Skype is something some of us want nothing to do with (FOSS obsession over here... I want to turn this Windows laptop into Linux already) or otherwise don't want to deal with the decentralization of power (an admin is a good thing sometimes), and decentralization of time (Skype is in real time, so anyone not in the general time zone is either fucking with their sleep cycle or left out).
I really don't get why Skype is being taken as the "Universal option" here.
Wait fuck I just agreed with him again

There's only one solution.
Stop saying things.
I honestly don't get why it has to be an "us or them"- the forum works for some people and not as well for others, so they use Skype instead.
It's a matter of personal preference. It doesn't have to be viewed as a fucking anarchist movement.

Thing is, Skype isn't the "Universal option". A lot of people have issues loading the forums, or can't use the forums all the time, or just want to have a quick chat - most of the people who stick to Skype for the most part
mostly stuck to skype well before we even thought about getting our own forums. It isn't "fragmenting". The only reason I haven't brought the srs rp over here is because it has brought traffic from the CF forums to here - it's not like no one has joined the forums because of the RP on the CF forums, people have done exactly that, and that is the only reason I am so adamant about keeping it there.

I'm not saying they're not a part of the community. I'm saying they're a part of the community deliberately isolating themselves. Skype is
not the universal solution to our communication problems. I agree the forums aren't a universal solution either (and maybe it would be if we gave this forum the proper functionality, or stripping down all the pretty sparkles so it can be shoved through a cell-tower properly and slammed into a 1.5 GB RAM device) but it's the best we have on hand.

Please, list off the number of
completely new people who came here from the RP (if they're not new, they were just searching for the remnants of the Nexus anyways). No-one goes to an RP looking for a forum. They'll just see it, go "okay, cool", and go off on their business. We'd get more people through Google search results (or we
would if we had a better system for new accounts) than a obscure, detail-ridden RP half-hidden in another forum.

Even if so, it's still by
their choice.
Calling it the 'best' is more of an opinion. I already said why Skype was better for me personally.
Point is, there's no right answer or perfect solution and considering some of us as isolated is just a consequence of trying to make the best of what we DO have.

The exact same argument I raised against staying on CF. Never mind the fact that I feel a bit insulted that we consider the extremely off chance of drawing in new members more important than making sure it's open to the whole community.

Doesn't save the conversation for those who join late. Say, does Skype do that or have people been praising an IRC ripoff?
