Still, you're the one assuming it's superior in any way.
And if it doesn't then it's assumedly for good reason, wouldn't you think?
And perhaps looking at it from the direction of "it's not something these people would fair well in" instead of "we don't want them here", would add a more positive tinge to your idea of it?
You've been doing nothing but explain why it's a superior choice to the forums.

It's superior for some people's situations. For others, the forums are better. If I was stuck with only, like, five minutes of computer time, I'd rather hop into skype, say hi quickly, talk a bit, then fuck off instead of doing so on the forums because time.
I prefer forums, honestly. mostly because embedded images. and links. and...yeah.

Except the very model of a forum works better for "leave a message, leave, people respond, read responses whenever"
More importantly though nowhere does it say that only so many messages can be posted within 5 minutes on a forum

Which
isn't good if you want to hold conversation for a few minutes.

Then stick around for a minute until people respond.

Forums don't go as fast as Skype or an IRC does, though. You have to sit at your computer and tap F5 for however long you have.
With an IRC, Skype, or similar thing, however, you're able to talk more in the same amount of time at the cost of not having what forums have.
There's upsides and downsides to both, sure, but one isn't superior to the other. It's a matter of what works best given life stuffs.
Both have their pros and cons.
Neither are perfect, or even good.

Not if you want to lead it as a conversation, with retorts and actual back and forth.
"Checking up" before poofing, and not just saying "Hello. Yes I am awake, bye poofing to slave labor now. Bye."

Pros and cons and everything. just because someone isn't listing the cons, doesn't mean they're saying it's superior always. Skype is better for quick conversation, forums are good for more drawn-out discussion, or leaving a message and coming back if you don't want active conversation.

Forums go as fast as you want them to, the only limiting factor is how often you're willing to refresh and how often people post.

I'd actually use Skype if the android UI wasn't terrible or if it didn't suck up my battery and data.
I like IRCs for that reason. Simple UI, and its made to run on '98 systems and dial up.

If it takes you 5 minutes to post that and hit refresh then maybe you shouldn't take on the system resource burden of Skype.
If it takes 5 minutes for people to reply to your post maybe it's because everybody is using Skype instead of the forums.

Yes, but it's not instantaneous, even if you have everyone posting and some program that refreshes the page every millisecond.

neither is skype or an IRC if you want to go that route
