That would work. But then you won't have internet for anything else.
Eh personally I just prefer dealing with hardware to software. Hardware is very consistent, you add this and it does that, you take it out and it stops, but software is fickle, it interacts with other software invisibly so you never know why something has suddenly broken because you don't know how far those software tendrils go in your system.

Which is exactly why I would use a virtual machine.
HWelp, some random blog followed me again and this time it's content is mostly....butts, not just any butts, some unnaturally sized human butts, disgusting. This one is going to the perma block list.

It's tumblr. It's a social media website not a magical host for private blogs.

That's such a depressing idea. An alien civilization capable of constructing free-orbiting energy collectors but apparently incapable of doing it in more than one system.
Perhaps the secret of traveling from one star to another is that it simply can't be done.
or maybe they only need that one star, and haven't begun mass-harvesting of other stars yet. that's also possible. after all, a star puts out a LOT of energy, and maybe they only need the one star, and have colonies on other planets which don't need to harvest their stars.

Possible but unless they have some means of simply beaming energy from one star system to another it's not very likely. A more plausible spin on that is that they need all that energy for a research station. Their equivalent of the LHC, very large, ambitious, and more than a little bit dangerous.

Or perhaps because they only need to do so on one star?
Besides, there's a lot of things that "couldn't be done", proven wrong as time goes on. Yeah, some things are unrealistic, but it's relatively - depends on how long you're looking at in travel between the stars.
Who knows, we'll have to see what that radio dish detects whenever they have it set up.

Again. When harnessing energy you want it to be a reasonable distance from whatever is using it. Several light years may be a bit excessive.

and i mean we can technically beam power from one place to another (In fact, Tesla originally did something like that...then he died before he could reveal how he did it and let people have free power.) so it's not that unlikely
but the research station thing is really possible.

It may also be their home planet and they only need this kind of power system there.

Wireless transmission of power on a planetary scale and transmission on power on an interstellar scale are very different. The difference in distance is so great that it's difficult to say that any more than the core concepts of Tesla's work would even apply at that scale.
Argh god damnit.
I play a game until I get bored of it, shut it down, and then while I'm trying to figure out what to play next my brain just says "let's just sit here" and shuts down itself.
MRW I can't find anything on Netlfix.
Fuck NVIDIA with a rake. I can't even play warframe because their shitty drivers can't handle it without crashing every mission and bringing the whole program with them.
Progress in the Serious RP! A race get explained, everyone gets their own FTL, and the Knowledgebase system is introduced alongside a revised RTD system!
I wonder if I should try and find an RP or if I just shouldn't bother trying to commit to things right now.

because the skin system in 1.8 is the only reason to even touch it it's so great being able to have jackets
You would give up 95% of mods... For the ability to have two layers for your skin...
