People are sucking Chucklefish's dick again because Tiy promised the game will be developed faster.

EDIT: Also for those of you who missed it yesterday: The updated Shopkeep emote attempt.

IT IS 21.0 KILOBYTES. I HAVE TO DROP A SINGLE KILOBYTE. AGHH.
If it's deneb the walls will occasionally burst open revealing tiny eevees in place of the insulation, also the occasional eevee commandos.

Bad move on Tiy's part. You can never guarentee that something will be done faster, and when it enevitably doesn't go faste-
WAIT A MINUTE.
There is no currently set "finish" date...
That means "faster" could mean anything... Since no date is set, literally anything could be faster...
And you say it's making people interested again?
BRILLIANT. I mean until something unexpected happens and people are all uppity about it again.

No.
I just felt like putting an Eevee on his head.
...Mostly because I doubt an Umbreon would fit there.

CF's entire business strategy revolves around backstabs, exploits and loopholes, pun unintended.
Remember the time when people complained about the lack of the promised frequent updates and Tiy suddenly turned around and said that the updates CF promised were the Nightly builds?

Scumbaggery at its finest. It's like telling someone "I'm gonna touch you." and instead inserting your fist deep and firmly into his face.
Yes, a punch is technically touching, but it wasn't the touch the recieving end thought it was going to be and what you did was cheeky as hell.

if explaining how they fucked up and that they didn't realize early access would make it so hard to develop at a decent pace, and sharing news that they're getting the major engine stuff ou of the way (thus allowing for easy production of the finalized gamestuff instead of behind-the-scenes stuff) then yes i guess you could describe it as such.

Do you remember Starbound's past?
We might as well get something similar to Valve Time, except for Chucklefish.

Even if 1.0 is released and is actually good, Starbound does not have a chance to become as succesful as Terraria anymore. Not without some kind of divine intervention.
They dropped the ball. They had their chance when Terraria died, but did not utilize this chance properly.
I don't care if they suddenly left the Dark Side and realized their mistakes. This is an industry, not some kind of TV show where game developers apologize for their sins.

How do we even know he's telling the truth? I, quite frankly, think CF does not deserve trust. Not anymore.

Then good for you. Don't trust them.
If some other people (like me) want to trust them, that's our decision.

I remember the fact that there wasn't a long span of updates because they were moving the team, didn't want to push out a mostly-unplayable version of the game (And thus made Nightlies to show that yes, they were working on it) and eventually did deliver on a gigantic update, and have kept working on it.
And, fun fact: If you look at statistics, even after 1.3 dropped, Terraria has 12% of it's players playing. 12%. Starbound, currently, has 13% of it's player playing. besides, the games are going to be very different once starbound reaches 1.0
it might not compete with terraria, but terraria has sold a fuckton of copies and has been out far longer. you can't compare them. don't compare them. it's comparing beta terraria to finished minecraft.
I'm still of the opinion that they're just cunts who don't understand how to build or manage a community.

You're going to get a feature-bloated-Terraria-mixed-with-Skyrim abomination of a game in the end.

If the game ends up being the next best thing, then hey, you have the right to rub it in.

[opinion]Minecraft... Now there's a game to gripe about. Months and months between updates and we usually get barely any new content to keep us interested, if any. They're usually just rehashing old systems like the rendering and terrain generation to make it hard for Mod Authors to update their mods with great content at blinding speed and cause the game to be even more buggy and slow.[/opinion]

If it's an industry then they are pretty fucking successful if they can consistently under-deliver and still have people throw money at and even defend them.

The bottom line is devs don't owe anything to you other than what they've already given you.

That's some loyal fanbase there. The game has been in development for about... 2 years now? Maybe longer than that. After the winter update, the development speed felt slow again. I don't know about the rest of the Starbound players; I've given up on that game, thinking it will ever get finished. Until their next big update rolls around, the game is probably going to be silent again.

Starbound is one of the examples why Early Access can affect the outcome of the game. Several videos explain pros and cons of Early Access. Letting people play an Early Access game is literally playing an unfinished game. Would people eat a half baked cake or a fully baked cake? Generally speaking, a finished game is likelier to have positive feedback. But the point of Early Access is to gather feedback to make the game better. Not to fish in cash. (Pun not intended) Early Access has gotten a bit sketchy with it's reputation as it makes people feel that they got cheated out of their money when the game fails to meet their expectations.

and if they were going to cut and run like so many people accuse them of doing, or be scam artists like so many people accuse them of being...i don't think they'd still be working on the game and trying to deliver the promises they made.
I love it. Back when they booted us off their forums everyone went "wow, what cunts, that is no way to treat your community or customers" then I started saying that we were going to forget why we left, now everyone thinks that they can say and do whatever because they can, oh and apparently starbound is the spitting image of a successful and effective development process now.

Pretty much only the people directly replying to Tiy's Reddit post showed support without some form of criticism, by the way.
Hence, the dick sucking.

Everyone else was either upset sbout the game's status, or liked the game but acknowledged some of its flaws.
