We aren't talking community here.
Yes the forum mods can be jerks, but we were bending the rules quite a bit and causing a general ruckus.
Even so, this isn't what we're talking about.
We're talking about game development.

After the winter update, the development speed felt slow again. I don't know about the rest of the Starbound players; I've given up on that game, thinking it will ever get finished. Until their next big update rolls around, the game is probably going to be silent again.
most games take over three years to be developed.
spore took seven.
destiny took ten.
60% of Spore is bad and unfinished.
Destiny is just bad in general.

they most certainly aren't an example of a successful and effective development process.
everyone gives them far more shit than they deserve because they made mistakes and admitted to them. they've made mistakes (probably the biggest one was going into EA in the first place, instead of developing the game some more before releasing a more completed beta...or horse tits.) and a lot of them, but they get a disproportionate amount of downtalk because they made mistakes on such a large project. they haven't abandoned the game, despite the amount of flak they get, which in and of itself is worthy of some modicum of respect.
they made promises, and are at least attempting to own up to them unlike some companies.

We "caused a ruckus" because they refused to make people who were breaking the rules actually stop, and we couldn't, so between penguin, austin, marx, and Joey the thread devolved into a self-perpetuating shitstorm.

The bottom line is devs don't owe anything to you other than what they've already given you.
Hence, the backstabs, exploits and loopholes.
They aren't even doing anything underhanded though - they aren't backstabbing anyone or exploiting anything. They are literally just being bad at their jobs and people are just too dumb to notice or too apathetic to care. People actually buy all that snake oil salesman stuff.

His "I don't care about who broke the rules you're all in trouble!" approach has caused me to disagree.

he gave me a warning point, i'm sure did other people, but it's his job do this, i'm sure he didn't want to.

He did his job poorly. His job is to keep the community running properly, grease the gears here or there, he completely disregarded that in favor of punishing me for my heavy handed attempts to do it myself.

Sure, let's say I'm wrong. They're innocent and just bad at game development.
And you're okay with it, even though you notice it? If they really are just bad, that makes everything worse, because now they're incapable of making a good game.
If they were cunning, at least that meant they were smart and knew what to do.
Anyway, I gotta go to bed now.
That was fun!

but are you doing it a good way, are you helping or are you hurting while helping and maybe just ending up hurting. You also can't just self promote yourself to forum ban disher outer.

That's irrelevant, if he had still given me a slap on the wrist and then turned around and given one to whoever was actually causing problems I wouldn't be saying this, according to his actions he thought it was more important that I not make a scene trying to stop people from disrupting the thread or doing this or that they shouldn't than it was that anyone else actually behave themselves.

Making mistakes (big ones) on a game as ambitious as Starbound...when it's their second game (maybe first? idk if RoR was made or published by CF) means they're incapable of making a good game even though they're learning from their mistakes and working on them?
yeah they've made bad decisions and mistakes but they've also learned from them, and are showing they learned from them. they've fucked up in the past, but everyone fucks up a lot when doing something for the first/second time. If they did everything perfectly (no badly timed jokes, actually conveying that they were moving the team and did so in a quicker manner, working on the game much more before pushing out a "playable" version...) then it'd be far better. they aren't the best devs, but they certainly aren't the worst
they've learned, at least. which shows they aren't totally incompetent.

well thee avali nexus seemed to attract everybody who isn't very nice, so what is he gonna do, let the place that attracts more buttholes live and punish the ever increasing amount of buttholes or just stop the the place where they flock too?

You seem to be missing the point. He didn't do anything to keep the nexus from being an awful place he did keep me from trying to do so though, because I didn't try to do so in a very popular or polite way.

he's just the attack kangaroo, he's told what to do by preset rules for himself or he get's fired, it was the avali nexus or is job that he may need.
