Other M is a Metroid game, and it's also one-hundred percent canon, but not to the main series. It goes off of the AU established by an official (and Japan-exclusive) Metroid comic.
It also clashes with the Prime
Cannon canon, and even it's continuity with the comic is shaky as fuck.
Plus almost no localization went into it. They just directly translated everything and shipped it out, leaving the US with a bland, unwaivering voice that is extremely awkward in our culture.

Metriod Fusion, the game it's supposed to be tying Super Metriod with, makes it a plot point that her suit is locked onto her body on when she goes unconscious before the game even starts.

I think fusion was pretty nice. The final boss was a bit lackluster, though.
