you say that but i can't live without my browser back/forth buttons
they're too god damn convenient.
The funny thing is, I never use those functions from the mouse. Probably because for the first 10 years of my having a computer I didn't have any extra buttons and just used the things on the screen.

Habits habits. You get into the habit of easy F/B and it's hard to not use them.

Still seems pointless to me.
You can just click forward and backwards or alt+left/right in browsers, and you can just used unused keys on your keyboard.
Doesn't really sound like those features warrant paying extra for a mouse with two more clicky things.

Theoretically you don't even need more than one button on your mouse because you can map keys and use GUI in the same way.
Things you don't technically NEED to pay for in a mouse:
Second mouse button
Scroll wheel
Clickable scroll wheel
Optical tracking
Wireless
If we never paid for things we don't need peripherals wouldn't have changed in 20 some years.

Remember in most gaming WASD is movement, which means you often have to reach to the opposite end of the keyboard to do things, especially if pretty much every easily accessible button near WASD is already being used, either losing movement from moving your left hand or losing turning/attacking/etc. from moving your right hand from the mouse to reach, even if just for a moment. If you have whatever functions are mapped there on your mouse instead, you don't have to move your hands at all. If it's a frequently used function, it's very useful. These mice also allow you to map multiple button inputs or even delayed button combinations to a single button as well, allowing you to do very precise button input combinations pretty much flawlessly every time.

evry button on my keyboard does something because i'm on a laptop. i have to hold two buttons in order to refresh. plus i dislike having to go up and clock the forwards/backwards button when i can just use my mouse to do that.
the extra buttons for games are super helpful as well. means i won't have a key that does something already mapped to push to talk or something.

Wow. Never considered using it with energy dash to get any decent speed out of it.

Mouse 5 for reload and Mouse 4 for melee is what I usually do.

I use 4 and 5 for weapon groups 3 and 4 respectively.
Right click is right side primary weapons, left click is left side primaries, right wheel is right side secondaries, etc.
Course that only applies to symmetrical mechs like the Timber Wolf.

I also added a glide function to them myself, tripled the code length.
Is it lazy that for Tecarian "culture" I just recycled human culture (since the humans created them) but "lost" a few things in translation?

Im obligated to push the cybrans mod as it makes the game more challenging but fun when you unlock them.
